Crynodeb
We have a full-time in-patient specialty doctor post in the Hospital Division, based in the Highgate (West) Mental Health Centre. In the Highgate West Mental Health Centre there are ten wards: two Psychiatric Intensive Care Units and eight treatment wards. The posts will be based in wards in the unit.
We are recruiting to these posts to improve safety and flow in our wards. At present wards have 0.5 FTE specialty doctors per ward, whereas we are aiming for full-time middle grade on each acute ward.
Which ward each post is on will depend on where the gaps are when post holders take up their posts.
• Conduct clinical assessments and manage patients with acute and chronic mental health conditions.
• Lead ward rounds in the consultant’s absence and contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings.
• Prepare reports for Mental Health Tribunals and Managers' Hearings, with training provided where required.
• Provide teaching and supervision for medical students.
• Engage in continuing professional development and mandatory training.

About the Role
We are seeking motivated and skilled Specialty Doctors to join our Hospital Division at Highgate (West) Mental Health Centre. You will work in one of our ten wards, which include two Psychiatric Intensive Care Units (PICUs) and eight acute treatment wards specialising in the care of individuals with psychosis, mania, and complex co-morbidities.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to improving safety and patient flow by becoming a key part of our multidisciplinary team. Each ward aims to have full-time middle-grade medical cover to enhance care delivery. The post offers excellent opportunities for professional development and involvement in teaching.
