Are you a project management professional looking for a challenging new role?

This is a unique opportunity to work on a programme that will see the business transition over the next few years to a new system that our whole organisation will use. The new system will transform how we work, and the Synergy Team will be at the heart of leading this.

In your role you will:
• Manage the project delivery process for several workstreams from initial planning and scoping through to delivery, implementation and embedding for the Synergy Programme. .
• support the integration and alignment of multiple workstreams into a cohesive plan, engaging and supporting workstream leads in the delivery.
• Establish effective relationships with colleagues across Strategy, Transformation and Assurance, the wider business and Defra to facilitate collaboration and alignment of interdependent work activities.
• effectively deliver project milestones, monitor and manage risks with effective governance in place, optimise opportunities, and realise business benefits.
• Work with other Project and Programme managers to ensure our work is co-ordinated across the people strategy and plans.

The team

The Environment Agency Synergy team is a new team established to deliver a significant programme over a number of years, so it’s an exciting time to join us.

We are part of the EA’s Corporate Management, Assurance, and Security Team who manage the relationship with corporate services, oversee the corporate approach to good governance and decision-making groups as well as our organisational resilience, business continuity management and security.

Experience/skills required

You will show:
• Planning and delivering projects with tight timescales and budgets from concept through to benefit realisation
• Working collaboratively with the ability to influence others to deliver business outcomes
• Building effective relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders at all levels
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to plan and engage effectively with varied audiences at all levels across the organisation
• Analysing complex issues to identify opportunities and risks and enable effective mitigation and risk management
• Independent problem solving and effective decision making, with the ability to self-start and lead others
• Ability to integrate complex workstreams into a co-ordinated plan
• Flexibility and determination to meet changing demands

Desirable
• Relevant project management qualification e.g. PRINCE2
• Professional membership of an associated body e.g. APM
