Summary


We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic midwife with special interest in maternity services to cover Maternity Leave for part time hours of 18.5hrs. The successful candidate will work with midwifery, obstetric, and neonatal colleagues to lead on the continued implementation and monitoring of GAP Grow 2.0 in line with the Saving Babies Lives Care Bundle v3. You will be required to have excellent communication skills and be able to manage own workload.

We are working continuously towards improving and developing our services to provide care which is inline with the Maternity transformation agenda and key to this is facilitating the implementation of the Saving Babies Lives Care Bundle v3 (SBLCB V3). You will be part of the specialist midwifery team who are pivotal to the delivery of these changes and will support the quality and safety of our maternity service.

Fetal Medicine is the branch of medicine that provides care for the fetus (or fetuses), their mother and her family.

The post holder is expected to work in partnership with the FMU lead midwife on a day to day delivery of midwifery services relating to fetal medicine and the component parts of the national pregnancy screening programme for Down’s Syndrome and Spina Bifida, where results may indicate high risk.

To provide personalized care and support to all women accessing our services within the community for antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal care.

The post holder is expected to be able to facilitate evidenced based informed choice, as well as respect for their decision at every stage of the pregnancy journey regardless of medical needs or otherwise.

The post holder is responsible for the co-ordination of midwifery specific fetal medicine services within the hospital and community settings.

The post holder will provide clinical expertise, professional direction and leadership to midwives and support workers in the maternity unit on fetal medicine services.

The post holder will deputise, when necessary, for the Midwifery Operational Manager for the specific clinical area.
