An opportunity has arisen for a band 6 midwife to join the Diabetic Team.
You will work closely with the Diabetic midwives, Nurse, community midwives and maternity to provide wholistic care to our diabetic women.

The post-holder will be a registered midwife with over 3 years’ experience as Band 6, able to demonstrate higher meet the demands of a busy clinical service.
In this role you will be expected to demonstrate a passion for promoting evidence-based practice, offer women continuity of care and to support diabetic women in every part of their pregnancy journey.

• To provide high quality, safe and holistic midwifery care to women and their families whose pregnancy is complicated by diabetes. The post holder will have a high level of expert knowledge and skills and be provided with relevant specialist training where required, which they will use to manage, develop and lead care for pregnant women and new mothers with additional needs.

• Provide direct client care and have detailed clinical knowledge of the specialist area.

• To be responsible for providing extra support and care to women whose pregnancy is complicated by diabetes in partnership with the named Diabetes Specialist Midwife (DSM), the Diabetes in Pregnancy multi-disciplinary team and external agencies.

• To work closely with women and their families to plan and coordinate their care based on their individual needs. They will provide a link between the maternity service and other services involved in diabetes care.

• Assist the band 7 DSM to ensure that high standards of quality care are delivered and maintained for women with Diabetes, and to deputise for the Band 7 DSM as required.

• To promote the use of quality improvement methods by frontline staff in order to deliver measurable improvements in patient care and to participate the audit.

• To act as a resource of diabetes specialist knowledge to other members of the multidisciplinary team.
