Full time, Permanent (37.5 hours per week) 08:00 – 16:00 (7.5 hours per day)
Salary
- £43,518.83 to £50,512.93 depending on experience plus Serco benefits
Here at Serco, we’re looking for a Deputy Mechanical Engineering Manager to join our Estates department at the Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital. This role offers a unique opportunity to work in a diverse engineering environment providing a wide scope for development of skills and knowledge as well as making a positive difference in supporting the NHS and community we support.

Reporting into the Mechanical Engineering Manager you will be part of the engineering team providing planned preventative and reactive maintenance services across the Norfolk & Norwich Hospital site as part of Serco’s Hard FM estates service to the NHS.

The post holder will ensure that the hospitals’ buildings, fabric, plant, services and equipment are maintained to a high standard and ensure their continued safety, efficiency and reliability. Typically, the mechanical responsibility of the role technically includes:


- Heating
- Chilled Water Systems
- Hot and Cold-Water Infrastructure Systems and all associated Plant
- Medium Temperature Hot Water Boilers
- Steam Raising Plant
- Air Handling Units
- Pumps
- Pressure Systems
- CHP
- Interceptors
- Water & Fuel Storage
- Medical Gas Pipeline Systems
- Reverse Osmosis Systems
- Autoclaves and Washer Disinfectors etc.


What you’ll need to do the role:


- Completion of a recognised appropriate Engineering or Mechanical Apprenticeship or other relevant structured training program and demonstrable experience in a previous role.
- Appropriate City & Guilds, BTEC qualifications/certification and or other recognised training bodies.
- Proven experience of working in a similar environment.
- Knowledge and understanding of Building Services
- Good people management skills.
- Good communication and customer services skills.
- Computer literacy.
- Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of high-level technical systems.
- Must have a customer focussed approach.
- Ideally trained in PSSR and good knowledge of LTHW/MTHW and Steam Boilers with gas safe registration or BOAS qualification.
