Summary

Job Overview: We are looking for a motivated and compassionate Deputy Registered Manager to support the management of a 2-bed children's residential home. The Deputy Manager will assist in providing high-quality care and support to children with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD), ensuring a safe, nurturing, and therapeutic environment. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with relevant experience who is ready to step into a leadership role and support the Registered Manager in overseeing the operations of the home.

Key Responsibilities:

Support Leadership & Management:
Assist the Registered Manager in the day-to-day management of the home, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies.
Lead and supervise the care team, providing guidance, support, and training to ensure the highest standards of care are maintained.
Step in to lead the team in the absence of the Registered Manager.
Quality of Care:
Promote and ensure the well-being and personal development of the children in care.
Contribute to the development, implementation, and review of individual care plans for each child, ensuring they are tailored to meet their specific needs.
Support staff in delivering a therapeutic approach to managing children with EBD, using positive behavior support and restorative practices.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure the home complies with Ofsted regulations, the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015, and other relevant legislation.
Help ensure that staff maintain accurate records, carry out risk assessments, and follow safeguarding procedures effectively.
Safeguarding:
Promote a culture of safeguarding within the home, ensuring children are protected from harm and all incidents are managed appropriately.
Assist in managing safeguarding concerns, ensuring they are reported, investigated, and addressed in line with the company’s policies and procedures.
Staff Support & Development:
Support the recruitment, training, and development of residential care staff.
Provide supervision to staff members, helping to address any performance or behavioral concerns, and foster a learning environment.
Encourage and participate in regular team meetings to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
Communication & Stakeholder Management:
Act as a point of contact for children, families, social workers, and external agencies, maintaining professional relationships.
Ensure the Registered Manager is kept informed of significant developments, concerns, or incidents in the home.
Assist in preparing reports and ensuring effective communication with relevant stakeholders regarding the progress and needs of the children.
Health, Safety & Environment:
Support the management of the home's environment, ensuring it is safe, clean, and conducive to the children’s well-being.
Help maintain the health and safety standards within the home, ensuring risk assessments and safety checks are regularly completed.
Administrative Support:
Assist in managing the home’s budget and resources effectively.
Ensure all documentation is completed accurately and on time, including care plans, incident reports, and progress reviews.

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

Qualifications:
Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or equivalent (or working towards).
Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care (Children and Young People) is desirable or a commitment to achieve within an agreed timeframe.
Knowledge and understanding of Ofsted regulations and the Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015.

Experience:
Experience working in a children’s residential setting, preferably with children with Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD).
Previous supervisory or leadership experience in a care environment, with the ability to motivate and guide a team.
Knowledge of safeguarding principles and experience in managing safeguarding concerns.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to manage and prioritize tasks effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
Empathy, patience, and a strong commitment to providing high-quality care.

Desirable Attributes:

Experience with therapeutic approaches to care, particularly in managing children with challenging behavior.
Understanding of multi-agency working and partnership collaboration.
