St John Ambulance works at the heart of communities, supporting and enabling them to access and receive physical and mental health first aid. We do this through developing and providing effective community response and outreach services (e.g. Ambulance response, Falls response and Night Time Economy) and using our longstanding expertise to empower people with vital clinical skills and the confidence to use them (e.g. our Volunteers and Community Advocates, NHS Cadets and Young Responders programmes). There is also a buoyant social enterprise network which delivers first aid training and supplies medical consumables to businesses and consumers.

Job Summary

As England’s First Aid charity our website is the first point of call for diverse audiences who want to know more about St John Ambulance and how they can get involved and take action, such as support the charity by donating and fundraising, sign up as a volunteer, join our youth movement and learn how to do first aid.

As a Web Content Executive, you will plan, review, update and implement web content and content strategies to improve conversion rates on our website and ensure users journeys are inspiring, accessible, and adheres to SEO best practices. You will collaborate with the rest of the Brand and External Communications team, Fundraising, Volunteering, Clinical and external agencies to maintain the content quality and technical health of the site. Using our CMS, you will update, create and manage website pages, ensuring consistency and structure in preparation of a migration to a new content management system.

About the Role

Support the Website Content Manager to develop and deliver a website content strategy
Review the user journeys on our website and build and implement a strategy to improve conversion rates.
Help to establish website style guide and digital guidelines; ensure teams champion them across subdomains.
Work with stakeholders across the organisation to review and update content, applying our style guide and visual guidelines.
Responsible for SEO and digital accessibility, applying up-to-date guidelines across our website.
Lead the migration of content from Optimizely to a new CMS, collaborating with teams across St John Ambulance, including Digital Data and Analytics team, ensuring guidelines are applied and pages optimised.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Demonstrable experience within a similar role with the ability to evidence previous work including improving website engagement, conversion and increased traffic through organic search
Demonstrable experience of using various Content Management Systems
Experience of SEO and marketing tools such as Semrush, Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Google Tag Manager, HotJar and others
Strong organisational ability with experience of successful managing multiple projects and conflicting priorities
