Do you have event experience and the ability to work with a range of clients? Are you keen to progress your career in a landmark venue?

About us

The Science Museum Group are the world's leading group of science museums and are uniquely placed to draw people of all ages to engage with science in an inspirational and informal way.

We are now seeking an Events Manager to work across 3 of our Northern museums (in York, Bradford and Shildon) to provide the complete range of Event services from sales support to planning and operations. As you will be the first contact for new clients, you will not only effectively engage them in the Museum but also proactively promote our full Events offer.

About the role

As Events Manager, you will organise all aspects of allocated events in the museum whilst developing and maintaining positive relationships with suppliers, including the in-house caterers. You will conduct site visits with clients, finalising details for events and upselling where possible.

Events will range from conferences, product launches, dinners, receptions, Christmas parties and private events. Please see our Venue Hire website for more details on events at the National Railway Museum: hiretherailwaymuseum.com

The role is based at the Railway Museum in York but with travel required to our Museums in Bradford and Shildon to support the delivery of events. The role may require some occasional evening and weekend work related to key events. Otherwise, this role typically offers a Monday to Friday working pattern, primarily working on site.

About you

You will be a true hospitality professional - customer-focussed, proactive, and motivated by providing unique experiences.

Above all, you are a skilled collaborator who can communicate effectively across a range of internal and external stakeholders, and across various client groups.

Don't feel you meet all the criteria? We welcome you to apply even if your experience doesn't match perfectly. With your transferable skills, you could be the right candidate for this, or other opportunities that we have.
