As a member of the Registration Authority for Northern Care Alliance the post-holder will be responsible for issuing smartcards to all users of the National NHS IT systems, across all hospitals, units and community health services managed by the Trust, following strict guidelines for verification and identity of users to facilitate secure and legitimate access to confidential patient information.

Develop a thorough understanding of the role and responsibilities of the Registration Authority and take part in all appropriate training as required by the National Programme for IT.

Strictly adhere to procedures for the authentication of prospective cardholders and ensure the supporting administrative work is completed accurately in a timely manner.

Be responsible for ensuring that applicants requiring ‘smart card’ access to any National IT Programme application are appropriately sponsored by the ‘User Sponsor’ from the location in which they work.

Ensure that applicants receive the appropriate level of access in accordance with their professional registration and responsibilities as identified by the User Sponsor.
