We are seeking motivated and proactive Occupational Therapists to gain experience and develop their occupational therapy skills within various specialties, including the acute hospital (elderly care, trauma orthopaedics, acute stroke, surgery, and medical), inpatient general and stroke rehabilitation and community therapy.

We would love to hear from interested candidates who have a range of occupational therapy experience, which could include clinical student placements as well as post graduate practice. On your application, please clearly state the Occupational Therapy area you have had experience in, and why you are interested in working in a rotational post within our organisation specifically.

The role will allow the successful candidate to develop a broad range of skills and knowledge in both assessment and rehabilitation, and there are opportunities to work alongside experienced clinicians and other members of the multi-disciplinary team.

The Trust is committed to on-going staff training and development, including a brand new preceptorship programme. You will have regular access to clinical and managerial supervision. Opportunities to participate in service improvement projects are available, and we have a well-established Band 5 peer support group.

- To undertake comprehensive assessment of patients working autonomously within professional boundaries and with supervision available from senior Occupational Therapist(s).
- To formulate and deliver an individual Occupational Therapy treatment plan based on a sound knowledge of evidence based practice, treatment options, clinical reasoning and assessment skills.
- To ensure a holistic approach to the overall care and rehabilitation of Identified group of clients, including effective working relationships with MDT, wheelchair and specialist equipment providers, orthotists consultants and relevant others.
- To ensure sensitive and appropriate handling of information in accordance with the data protection act and Trust policy.
- To provide training and advice on Occupational Therapy interventions, changes and adaptations to the patient’s lifestyle considering the environmental, emotional, physical, spiritual and social needs.
- To address occupational performance and skills deficits enabling the patient in areas of self- maintenance, productivity, education and leisure.
- To be responsible for organising and planning own caseload, to meet service and patient priorities. Readjusting plans as situations change/arise. Delegate duties to other members of staff as appropriate.
- To identify work related risk to staff and patients and inform Senior staff as necessary
