Summary
Providing an exciting opportunity to experience exposure at the very highest levels of Defence, this post will require a broad range of personal engagement with the Department's most senior stakeholders including Secretary of State for Defence, Minister for Defence Procurement, VCDS and Service Chiefs, and senior defence industry executives. You will also gain a unique insight into cross-Government working, including No10 and Cabinet Office. The postholder will have opportunities for travel with DCDS(MilCap) within the UK and abroad.
Current priorities for the role are broadly:
Managing and owning DCDS(MilCap)'s diary in an effective and confidential manner; arranging and de-conflicting meetings in line with DCDS(MilCap)'s needs; researching and booking travel options within MOD policy and assembling and organising briefing materials; remaining cognisant of both short- and long-term priorities.
Managing the outer office multiuser inbox by prioritising incoming mail and keeping track of DCDS(MilCap)'s tasks, actions and deadlines.
Maintaining a network of stakeholders across MOD, government, academia and industry.
Working closely with the outer office, delivering verbal briefs where required to DCDS(MilCap) and wider team to provide the context behind meetings and to ensure that DCDS(MilCap) is sufficiently prepared for all engagements.
Providing office management services including room bookings, visitor management (booking and escorting), reprographics and logistics requests.
Given the high number of requests on DCDS(MilCap)'s time, this role works closely with the other three members of the outer office to maintain a well-organised schedule, adapting as priorities change.
The responsibilities will ebb and flow depending on departmental priorities. The successful candidate will need to be adaptable, comfortable with uncertainty and resilient to change.
(Remote working within this role is something that can be discussed at interview stages or with your future line manager if you are found successful.)
