This post is a developmental role. If you meet the criteria there is potential for the successful candidate to begin at a Band 6 level.

The principle role of the Clinical Admin Lead is to provide day to day line management and professional supervision to a defined group of medical secretaries and support clerical staff working within the Division, ensuring best practice and adherence to Trust policies and procedures.

They will also be responsible for ensuring that secretaries within the specialty areas are maintaining compliance for clinical activity in line with NHS waiting times, i.e. RTT pathways and subsequent targets, and will oversee all active RTT pathways, ensuring that patients are progressing appropriately in their management through Phase 2.


The post holder must have experience of waiting list management and a solid understanding of local and national targets. They must be willing and able to undertake varied duties as requested, including producing reports and data cleansing and will provide support during Service Manager absence.


The main duties of this job description are explained, however, these will continue to evolve to meet corporate objectives and NHS targets.

Key areas of responsibility:
Supervise a team of medical secretaries and support staff, ensuring equality of workloads across the team, recording annual leave and absence using e-Rostering and carrying out various duties appropriate to the role.

Provide guidance to the support secretary, giving on the job training and advice as appropriate.

Weekly monitoring of the Phase 2 patient pathways, ensuring that patients are progressing appropriately.

To undertake validation work, including weekly review of the data cleansing database as required.

Monitoring and updating the Cancer PTL database as directed, escalating issues as required.

To support the Service Lead with any other duties as required, under their supervision
