Job Title Apprentice Lightning Protection Operative

Omega Red Group is excited to offer a two-year apprenticeship programme, gaining a Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Accessing and Rigging
Occupations: Lightning Conductor Engineer.
As an apprentice with Omega Red Group, you will gain hands on experience working alongside our qualified Lightning Protection
Engineers with the opportunity to create a long-standing career for the future alongside gaining a professional qualification.
Day to day activities will involve attending clients’ sites, assisting and learning from our Lightning Protection Engineers,
installing and repairing Lightning Protection systems.

Omega Red, is part of SSI Services (UK) Ltd, a division of South Staffordshire Plc. Omega Red is a specialist, design,
installation, testing and maintenance contractor, within the electrical earthing, lightning protection and height safety market.
Operating nationally, the business focuses on providing top quality safety-critical services for the protection of people,
buildings and infrastructure.
About the Apprenticeship:
The apprentice scheme takes two years to complete and will consist of class-based learning, in which you will be required to stay
away from home to attend block periods at collage (facilitated by the Construction Industry Training Board (CITB)).
You will receive on the job training with one of our qualified, experienced Lightning Protection Engineers who will coach and
develop your practical skills and knowledge in Lightning Protection.
At least 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying.
After completion of this apprenticeship, you will have to opportunity to progress through the company to more advanced roles or
other specialist areas.
What you’ll need:
GCSE or equivalent English (Grade 4 or higher) essential
GCSE or equivalent Maths (Grade 4 or higher) essential
Driving Licence (Grade Full) essential
As an Apprentice Lightning Protection Operative you will need to demonstrate the following:
Good communication so you can articulate and follow clear instructions and report back
Attention to detail for ensuring tasks are completed accurately and safely
Organisational skills to support with time management and the ability to prioritise tasks
Problem-solving mentality to help adapt to new challenges and environments
Ability to work as part of a team to achieve goals and complete tasks
Physically fit and enjoy working outside in different environments and weather conditions
A head for heights as much of the role will involve working on elevated levels
