About the Role
In this pivotal, non-academic role, you will be responsible for the seamless operationalisation of our Spring and Summer Pre-Sessional courses. You will lead course setup, staff recruitment, and provide essential administrative support, while working closely with college departments to ensure the successful delivery of courses designed specifically for postgraduate Art and Design students.
Main Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership: Take ownership of course setup, including teaching and administrative processes.
Team Coordination: Recruit, line manage, and mentor a dedicated team of pre-sessional EAP tutors, with HR and Academic Skills support.
Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Liaise with professional services teams for student recruitment, communications, and onboarding.
Content & Quality Assurance: Review and enhance course content in partnership with the Academic Skills team and oversee quality assurance, feedback, and reporting.
Team Development: Develop a supportive CPD programme for EAP tutors of varied experience levels, showcasing best practices in EAP.
Assessment Leadership: Oversee course assessments, including marking, moderation, and feedback processes.
In-sessional Engagement: Offer limited in-sessional support to foster continuity with RCA programme teaching and curriculum familiarity.
Qualifications & Skills
MA in a suitably related - EAP/linguistics field or experience
Postgraduate teaching qualification
Demonstrated experience in EAP course leadership, including substantial administrative and collaborative team leadership skills.
Strong understanding of EAP best practices in academic skills teaching, both online and in-person.
Proven ability to lead CPD initiatives and mentor teaching staff in a supportive, collaborative way.
Enthusiasm for Art and Design postgraduate education, with a resourceful and creative approach to challenge-solving.
