This is an exciting opportunity for a trainee in paediatric or paediatric neurology (or a doctor hoping to specialise in neurology or an allied specialty) to gain specialist experience in the diagnosis and management of paediatric neuroinflammatory disorders.
The applicant will need GMC registration to apply.
The post normally runs for one year, though a longer period is negotiable. The applicant can be at any stage in their training, ST3+ training level would be desirable.
The post holder will work in the paediatric neuroinflammatory service in Oxford and have opportunity to gain experience in diagnosis and management of multiple sclerosis, neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder, MOGAD and autoimmune encephalitis. The psot holder will work within 2 nationally commissioned highly specialised services ( Paediatric Multiple Sclerosis and NMO service) There are several educational opportunities within these specialist services including opportunities for national and international collaborative projects. The post is primarily aimed at individuals wishing to develop specialty skills in the diagnosis and management of children and young people with neuroinflammatory disorders. For those interested, there will be research projects for the individual to pursue.

The post holder will be responsible for under consultant supervision, inpatient and outpatient management of children and young people with neuroinflammatory disorders. This will include attending outpatient clinics, inpatient reviews, arranging admissions for investigations and disease modifying treatments. The post holder will work closely with the neuroinflammatory specialist nurse and the administrator to complete monthly reporting and annual reporting. The post holder will under consultant supervision complete bluetaq forms and MDT discussion proformas.
The post holder will have opportunity to attend general neurology clinics and neurology multi-disciplinary team meetings.
