The Royal Opera House continues to lead the way in opera, ballet, music and dance both live on stage and through multiple digital platforms, from live streaming to worldwide cinema screenings. The role:

Our Technical, Production and Costume Department plays a leading part in ensuring our performances are of the highest quality by delivering technical excellence for every performance, rehearsal, and event.

We are now seeking to recruit a Costume Buyer based within the Costume Production team on a 2-year fixed-term basis. You will work with the Costume Production Management team on new, revived, co-productions and hired productions. The role will involve assisting with activities required for sourcing all products; attending rehearsals, performance, and fittings as required; and maintaining a knowledge of the RBO costume database and asset management systems, keeping all production notes and related information up to date.

What you`ll bring:

You will be able to demonstrate:

A professional track record working with production theatres or venues, or comparable film/TV experience. Basic knowledge of fabrics modern and traditional methods of construction, periods styles, and history of costumes. Strong communication skills, and a team player with a collaborative approach to working as well as the ability to work unsupervised and show initiative in dealing with day-to-day problems. Good MS Office skills and proficient user of software appropriate to the role. A knowledge of standard opera and ballet repertoire an advantage.
