As Senior Records and Information Manager, you will oversee the entire information management lifecycle, ensuring that data and records are securely stored, up to date, and easily accessible to colleagues across DVSA.

You will have a pivotal role in shaping and implementing information management strategies and influencing the wider agency to make the most of record management tools, whilst also ensuring compliance with security and privacy regulations. This will include developing and managing processes to support collaborative working in the Agency’s chosen systems for information and knowledge exchange.

Working closely with colleagues across DVSA, you will champion good records management practice, including collaborating with the teams responsible for data protection and cyber security to ensure secure handling of records. Outside of DVSA colleagues, you will have the opportunity to engage with professionals in the Government Knowledge and Information Management community, sharing knowledge and best practice. This will include working with the Office of the Traffic Commissioners, to who we provide a quality records management service, as well as Records Officers across the Department for Transport family, and The National Archives.

In addition, you will lead a diverse team, supporting their continuing professional and personal development, and ensuring that they have the skills and knowledge to provide a good quality records management service.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the development and implementation of a knowledge and records management framework that includes structures and processes for governance.
  • Leading compliance audits of records management practices within DVSA as part of the DVSA Information Risk Audit Programme.
  • Identifying, recording and managing risks relating to records management to support the Senior Information Risk Owner.
  • Leading on the development and maintenance of records management policies and procedure documents.
  • Responding to information and data incidents as directed by the Head of Data Protection and Information Management.
