The Head of Medical Staffing & Medical Educationis the Trust’s authoritativeexpert within the field of medical human resources management andmedical education. They willensure Trust compliance with statutory, Health Education, GMC and Deanery requirements andprovidesthe authoritative advice for the Trust on medical staffing terms and conditions.


Responsible for the implementation of new national initiativesin the trust,in relation to medical staff, taking along-termview and ensuring the Trust hasappropriate systemsand procedures in place to ensure safe and effective management of the medical workforce.


This is afull-timerole(37.5 hours/ week)with opportunity forworking remotely one day a week. Medical Staffing and Medical Education Office is based at Prospect Park Hospital in Reading.

• Thepost-holderwill ensure Trust’scompliance with statutory,MedicalEducation,Regulatory/GMC and Deanery requirements and provide the authoritative advice for the Trust’s Senior Leadershipon medical staffing terms and conditions.

• Responsible for the development of Trust implementation of new national initiatives in relation to medical staff, taking a long-term view and ensuring the Trust hasappropriate systemsand procedures in place to ensure safe and effective management of the medical workforce.

• The post holderis responsible forthe implementation of best practice Employment Practices and Strategies in relation to all the Medical Workforceacross the Trust. This includes day to day leadership ensuring the provision of a high quality, customer focused Medical Staffing & Medical Education Service.

The “must haves” for this role:




• Extensive knowledge of the Medical & Dental Terms and Conditions of employment including the consultant contract,local,regionaland national context.

• Thorough understanding of Medical Education, Medical Revalidation, Job Planning, Consultant Appraisal and Junior Doctors terms & Conditions.

• Evidence of experience in dealing with complex Medical Employee Relation cases in line with MHPS.

• Knowledge of recruitment processfor resident doctors
