Our rigorous swim assistant trainee programme will provide you with all the skills and knowledge you will need to become a Level 1
Swim Assistant. At the end of the course, you will swim away with SEQ Level 1 Swimming Assistant (Teaching) qualification. We will
also support your career with a tailored development plan that could include a fast track to become a Level 2 Swimming Teacher.
WHAT IS THE JOB OF A SWIMMING ASSISTANT?
Working alongside our swimming teachers, you will support our swim programme, which provides lessons across a range of ages and
abilities under the Swim England ‘Learn to Swim’ programme.
YOU WILL:
* Assist the swim teacher in teaching swimming techniques and skills.
* Help create a safe and fun pool environment for all of our members, including parents/guardians of our child members.
* Instruct students on proper swimming techniques and water safety
* Joining the students in the water to provide additional demonstrations and hands-on support to students.
* Assess pupil’s skills and progress and provide feedback to help students improve
* Ensure any child safeguarding concerns are reported
* Carry out various administrative tasks associated with the position such as class registers.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
You don’t need any prior qualifications to apply, as you will be supported throughout your training. People will describe you as
friendly, empathetic and patient. You will have a passion for creating a fun and safe environment for all our swim school members
and will greet everyone with a smile, and your ability to dive in and communicate with adults and children is why you would make a
great Swim Assistant for Lampton Leisure!
HOW DO I APPLY?
An on-site assessment day for the course will take place from 12.30pm Saturday 19th October at Isleworth Leisure Centre. You must
be able to attend this day to be enrolled on the course. Please note, part of this assessment will take place in the water.
Our next training course will start online for 2 weeks from Monday 25th November and finish with two face-to-face days on Saturday
7th and Sunday 8th December.
