About Meridian Water:

Cognition Land and Water Ltd is delighted to be working on the Meridian Water project which is Enfield Council’s lead regeneration programme creating 10,000 Homes and 6,000 Jobs. Cognition will be working on this site from Spring 2024 carrying out remediation, earthworks and civil engineering activities. Cognition has a long history of works in the East London area and is looking to employ additional people to support growth and new projects.

Role Overview:

To support project delivery teams within Enfield, London and neighbouring counties.
• To support the contract and commercial management team within the business unit
• Providing support to project teams on all matters relating to Contract and Commercial issues whilst maintaining the flow of information between the site and office
• Undertaking the measurement and valuation of works completed
• Supporting payment applications to our client or from our supply chain within the agreed timescales.
• Produce detailed records of costs incurred through works completed.
• Co-ordinate with the Cognition site team on managing records, surveys and costs and any additional works required by our clients.
• Implement the contract and company procedures for purchasing, finance and payments.
• Maintain and enforce health, safety and environmental standards as required by statute and company’s policies.
• Maintain and enforce quality standards as defined by national standards, client contracts and the company’s policies.
• During the apprenticeship programme, you will undertake appropriate theoretical and practical training to develop the knowledge, skills and experience required, to achieve the appropriate qualification.
• To adopt and ensure full utilization of IT and collaborative working methods on each project
• To build long term relationships with clients, joint venture partners, contractors and other key stakeholders

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare weekly costs for Labour, Plant, Materials and Sub-contractors for each project.
• Preparation of sub-contractor work packages.
• Evaluation of sub-contractor valuations and approvals for payment.
• Preparation of cost reports for smaller projects.
• Monitoring and updating material pricing records for use in cost reporting.
• Assist the Estimator with detailed cost reports and the pricing of tenders.
• Prepare Requisitions and ensure orders are formalised in line with company procedures

Experience and Qualifications:

• Good verbal communication skills
• Being reliable and able to develop new skills
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, excel, outlook etc)
• Maths & English GCSEs grade A-C or 4-9, Functional skills level 2 certificate or equivalent.
• Have an organised and confident approach to dealing with their workload, and in dealing with people both face to face and on the phone.
• Have a keen eye for detail
• Good Communication Skills
• IT skills eg Office 365, Microsoft Teams, Dropbox

Desirable:

• We are particularly interested in recruiting locally from the Enfield, Barnet, Haringey, Waltham Forest Councils.
• Understanding of safety, environmental and quality management processes
• Understanding of commercial and procurement processes
• CSCS card

• 45hour week, site based.
