Client Description
A specialised engineering company with over 10 years of proven large-scale construction experience in renewable energy generation projects. They offer a comprehensive range of services, including project management, design, studies, procurement, construction, and operation & maintenance services.

Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Commissioning Engineer/SAP. The client have projects all around the country, so this position will require travelling. The Commissioning Engineer/SAP will be responsible for conducting electrical testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning of renewable energy generation projects. The Engineer/SAP will also be involved in electrical engineering and testing activities, ensuring the efficient and reliable operation of the projects.

Commissioning engineer Skills:

  • Familiar with Omicron CMC356 secondary injection test kit or similar test set (Ponovo, Sverker, etc)
  • Familiar with Hi-Pot, VLF, Ductor, IR Testing and HV Cable Fault finding testing equipment
  • IT network knowledge, PC network setting adjustment to connect to testing kits, relays and testing software
  • Microsoft office suite to produce final test reports and to carry out testing calculations, when required on site
  • Understanding of electrical schematic drawings up to 33KV (Transformers, Switchgears, CT's, VT's, LVDB's, Automations, Scada signals)
  • Sound analytical and technical skills.
  • Ability to think methodically, to design, plan and manage projects.
  • Ability to maintain an overview of entire projects while continuing to attend to detailed technicalities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Troubleshooting and 'can do' attitude

Commissioning engineer Responsibilities:

  • Functional checking of relay and control panels.
  • Electrical schematic verification, continuity checks
  • Substation primary and secondary testing and commissioning activities.
  • Transformer tests such as: winding IR test, ratio test, winding resistance measurement, magnetizing current measurement, Oil sampling collection, Test of alarm devices.
  • Switchgear testing as per manufacturer guidance such as: AC Hi-Pot testing, Ductor testing, IR testing.
  • Switchgear functional checks
  • DC/AC/HV Cable testing from 1kV DC up to 35kV, VLF testing from 19kV RMS up to 66kV RMS
  • DC/AC/HV Cable fault finding.
  • Secondary current injection to relays to test protection functions such as: 50/51, 50N/51N,
  • Secondary Voltage injection (G99) test, ROCOF, LOM, OV/UV/OF/UF
  • Relays logic configuration (Desirable ABB REF615)
  • CT & VT Primary injection
  • High Voltage switching operations
  • Preparation of RAMS for the commissioning activities
  • Preparation of the testing reports upon completion of each work assignment

Commissioning engineer Education background:

  • Electrical engineering BSc degree
  • MSc in Power systems will be a Plus
  • Industry related qualifications to High Voltage testing and commissioning
