Crynodeb

Are you a talented criminal lawyer looking for the next step in your career? The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) is recruiting qualified barristers and solicitors across England and Wales.

At the Crown Prosecution Service, we are responsible for delivering justice through the independent and effective prosecution of crime. As the principal prosecuting authority across England and Wales, the nature and diversity of cases we advise on and prosecute means our work is often emotionally challenging and complex. As such we employ over 7,000 individuals who think objectively, act professionally, show the upmost respect for others and continually strive for excellence.

As a senior crown prosecutor, you deliver justice in some of the most complex and challenging cases – from fraud and firearms to public order and corporate manslaughter. Your role is largely office-based, reviewing evidence and charging decisions for cases appearing in the magistrates’ and Crown Court. You provide legal advice and explain our decisions to criminal justice partners and victims of crime, helping to maintain public confidence in our work.

We’re looking for qualified barristers and solicitors with extensive knowledge of criminal law, including the most serious offences. You demonstrate sound legal judgement and can present cases clearly, both verbally and in writing. It's essential that you have a commitment to public service, a focus on continuous learning and an understanding of our role within the criminal justice system.

At the CPS we pride ourselves on providing benefits that ensure our employees’ needs are central. We want to ensure you can thrive at work and home, offering support to achieve a balance. This includes flexible working hours, flexibility to support caring responsibilities and a family friendly approach to work. We also offer a range of benefits including:

• flexible and family-friendly working
• competitive salary
• Civil Service pension, with an average employer contribution of 27%
• 25 days leave, rising to 30 days after 5 years’ service, plus bank holidays
• 3 days paid volunteering leave
• 1 extra privilege day for the King’s birthday
• £350 a year individual learning budget
• wellbeing support and counselling
• Cycle2work scheme, high street retailer offers and discounts.

Do you want to make a real difference in society, helping us to secure justice for victims of crime? Find out more and apply today.
