Summary


Senior Clinical Coder

Following a detailed review of the Trust’s Clinical Coding Service, an exciting opportunity has arisen within the department for full time, ACC qualified, Senior Clinical Coders, with enthusiasm and motivation to join our extremely busy Clinical Coding Department. The post holder will have responsibility for the clinical coding of all acute specialties, by abstracting clinical data from the patients records and translating it into diagnostic (ICD10) and procedure (OPCS) coding classifications.

With a flexible approach to work, the post-holder will work as part of a team to meet tight deadlines. A good knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology is essential as is a good standard of education.

The post involves some interaction and collaboration with clinicians in all specialties, ensuring that procedures and diagnosis are correct and agree with national standards.

This role requires an organised approach to the workload and the ability to work in a very busy environment where a high degree of accuracy with attention to detail and experience of working to tight deadlines is paramount.

The role is to be based across all Barts Health Hospital sites: The Royal London; Whipps Cross, Newham and St Barts Hospitals, however, you will be located at one main base. All post-holders will be expected to travel between sites when required.

Successful applicants that hold the ACC qualification can expect a ‘10%’ uplift in addition to their Band 5 salary.
