We are looking for an enthusiastic,skilledand experienced Manager currently working in Health or Social Care to join ourCAMHS Phoenix Day Patient Unit.


The post holder will co-ordinate, leadand oversee, the systematic provision of a high quality, highly specialist integrated psychological therapies service to young people and their parents/carers accessing Tier 4 Hospital at Home/ Day Patient Mental Health services in Berkshire.


CAMHS Phoenix unit is a specialist provision day care service for Young People between the age 12 – 18 Years.The service provides co-ordinated, intensive, complex, multi modal interventions designed tofacilitatethe prevention, diagnosis, management, and evidence-based treatment of severe and enduring mental illness in young people.


You will be part of a multi-disciplinary clinical teamcomprisingof Consultant Psychiatrists, doctors, therapists,nursingand teaching staff. Members of the clinical team are at times exposed to distressing situations and challenging behaviours. The integrated serviceprovidesa range of such therapeutic programmes in a local context which enables continuity of care through a step up, step-down model, and whichseeksto provide alternatives to admission inpatient unit, and reduced length of stay in out of area facilities.



• Operationally manage and leadthe PhoenixTeam with the accountability of ensuring delivery of high quality, effective and integrated intervention that safeguard children and promote their development and welfare, so that children, youngpeopleand their families are offered quality andtimelyassessment,interventionand support as commissioned.

• Take an active role in strategic planning and the development of the services and policies across the organisation including the contribution of children / young people and their parents / carers

• Working with the professional leads, and other managers develop an effective and motivated workforce within the area of responsibility which delivers services that are efficient,effectiveand consistent across Berkshire.

• Working with the professional leads, lead the development of all the team roles and structure the teams within the area of responsibility to promote joined integrated working for children, youngpeopleand their families.

• Provide effective leadership managing staff asappropriate, ensuring that their professional and other developmental needs are met, that all staff haveobjectiveslinked to local need, regularappraisalsand personal development plans in line with current BHFT policies.

• To provide effective leadership following BHFT policies in recruitment, induction, staff appraisal, staff sickness and absence, capability and disciplinary.

The 3/4 “must haves” for you to be considered for this role: 




1. Relevant professional qualification at Diploma/Degree level i.e. RMN, or equivalent inSocialwork, Occupational therapy, Psychotherapy, Clinical psychology, or other such clinical professions and hold a professional membership (egNMC, HCPC) in addition to evidence of further specialist training/professional development and significant CAMHS/mental health experience.

1. Management experience in children's health care.

1. Experience working with multi-agency and multidisciplinary team settings.

1. Ability to devise and implement local policies and procedures relating to children and families
