In DHSC, we are proud of our purpose – to enable everyone to live more independent, healthier lives for longer. To achieve this, and create a great place to work, we have four values: we are inclusive, we constantly improve, we challenge, and we are agile. If this sounds like an environment you’d like to work in, we’d love to hear from you.

The Office of the Chief Analyst is a team which works at the centre of the department’s analytical community. We are passionate about creating a thriving community, leading on the resourcing and development of our analysts.

Our department is strongly committed to basing our policy process and decision making on the best possible evidence, and to do that it is important that we have the right analysts working in the right areas and at the right time.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Business Support and Recruitment Officer to join the Office of the Chief Analyst within the Analytical Recruitment Team to help provide the essential support to help resource the analytical community in the Department of Health and Social Care.

The role would include working within a small and friendly multi disciplined team made up of a range of professions who strive to provide a government leading recruitment service to our 400+ stakeholders.

Although the post is in a central analytical team, led by the Head of Analysis, the role does not require an analyst and would suit those who already work in recruitment, HR or operational delivery. Whilst being experienced in these areas is not critical, it important to be organised, have strong people skills, an interest in the role and a passion to develop.

The post provides opportunities to build strong working relationships at all levels including Senior Civil Servants, and to be visible within the analytical community.

The purpose of this role is to support the analyst recruitment team to deliver an effective and efficient service across our analytical community. You will play a significant role in the oversight of the analytical community which will require you to have excellent communication skills and a professional and friendly demeanour.

Typical activities range from large scale resourcing exercises such as our annual managed moves process where analysts rotations are coordinated around the department to tailored guidance for managers on the best way to fill their vacancies. You will ensure that our recruitment principles and policies are followed and act as the first point of contact for new requests.

There will be an expectation to support colleagues in the wider team which will give opportunities to develop and understand wider analytical priorities. Whilst this role does sit in HR directly it does involve numerous people related queries and a need to balance what works for all involved. The post is a great place to be visible, to develop and implement people focused procedures and plans and to develop your skills.
