Hays Recruitment are delighted to be supporting a public sector organisation with the recruitment of a finance assistant to join their organisation on a temporary basis.
The ideal candidate for the finance assistant role will be a proactive and detail-oriented individual, responsible for a variety of finance tasks including sales and purchase ledger management, bank and cash reconciliations, and raising sales invoices.
You will use accounting software to ensure accurate financial processing, support month-end and year-end analysis, and assist with internal recharging and supplier payments. Strong communication, IT, and numeracy skills are essential, along with the ability to maintain effective relationships and a positive approach to continuous improvement.
Your new role
As Finance Assistant, you will be responsible for:
- Use accounting software for accurate finance tasks.
- Handle general ledger accounting and monthly entries.
- Raise sales invoices, monitor debts, and follow up on outstanding payments.
- Prepare weekly bank reconciliations and monitor cash positions.
- Assist with payments, purchasing, and petty cash management.
- Support month-end/year-end analysis and produce financial reports.
