Crynodeb

This is an exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated individual to join our friendly dynamic Dermatology Team at St. George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for a 12 month fixed term post.

Our Dermatology nursing services are provided on three sites – Queen Mary’s Roehampton, St George’s Hospital Tooting, & The Nelson community Health Centre Wimbledon. This post will be based at St. George's Hospital Tooting site, but you may be asked to go to one of the other sites depending on service needs.

We provide a range of day care treatments, including phototherapy, photodynamic therapy, iontophoresis and topical treatments to patients with acute and chronic skin disease including skin cancer. Additional new role will be to support the new Teledermatology service photographing lesions images referred from primary care for remote review by dermatology clinicians.

Please note this is a 12 months fixed term post.

This new post will have a dual role to deliver the following standard dermatology nursing care:
• Phototherapy safely in line with departments protocols.
• To be responsible for the assessment of care needs and the implementation and evaluation of patient care for patients undergoing phototherapy.
• To administer PUVA and UVB therapies safely in line with department’s protocols and evidence-based practice.
• Provide Pre and Post treatment patient education and orientation for patients attending for phototherapy or day care.
• To recognize the responsibilities of the nurse in administering PUVA, UVB and topical treatments.
• Delivering day care treatments.
• Assisting with minor skin procedures.
• To work as part of a team in a conducive and co-operative manner. To assist in all aspects of the smooth running of the dermatology department.

And also a new role to support the new Teledermatology service photographing lesions images referred from primary care for remote review by dermatology clinicians:
• Capturing high quality clinical images of patients’ skin conditions using specialised photography techniques and equipment.
• Accurately label and securely catalogue all images, maintaining a comprehensive and organised legible database for easy retrieval
• Continuously develop your skills and knowledge through workshops, conferences, and professional literature to maintain expertise in the field.

The Dermatology department consists of a variety of outpatient clinics providing diagnostic and therapeutic outpatient care to the local community. Integral to the patient care pathways are the Endoscopy and Minor Operations unit and Radiology.

The department consists of specialty clinics providing diagnostic and therapeutic outpatient care to the local community, including a phototherapy service and dermatology minor surgery which is based on 3 sites, SGH, QMH and The Nelson.

The Dermatology Day care Unit at Clinic B, St. George’s Hospital provides specialist care in Phototherapy, topical treatments, Ionotophoresis, photodynamic therapy, complex wounds and cryotherapy. The CNS & the Lead Nurse in Dermatology provides nurse led clinics on all three sites, therefore all nurses who work in our dermatology departments are given the opportunity to acquire new skills and develop their expertise within this specialty.
