Crynodeb
This ENT Laryngology & Airway fellow post is to work within the field of Laryngology and Airway surgery based at the Liverpool University Hospital Foundation Trust which is the major teaching hospital in the Merseyside and Cheshire region. The Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is composed of three geographically distinct hospital sites: The Royal Liverpool University Hospital, Aintree University Hospital and Broadgreen Hospital. The post is funded by the Head and Neck Directorate of the Trust. The successful candidate is expected to undertake the duties of a Specialty Trainee in ENT. Service commitments include out-patient clinics, theatre sessions, daytime on-call duties as well as participating in the on-call rota. All inpatient activity (elective and non-elective e.g., emergencies) are based at the Aintree University Hospital site, while outpatient activity for this post will be based across both sites. At Liverpool University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (LUHFT) we offer tertiary services for laryngology and airway surgery. All operating is undertaken in Aintree University Hospital where the head & neck ward and inpatients are based. Complex airway and laryngology operations are performed as expected of a tertiary centre. The department was an early adopter of lasers in head and neck surgery and this is favoured for use in laryngeal and airway pathology. Open laryngotracheal reconstruction is also performed in the department. The post is aimed at candidates approaching the end of their higher surgical training, ideally with the FRCS (ORL-HNS) or equivalent, or post CCT. The year will be characterised by a progressive balance of mentorship and autonomy, aiming to extend the candidates surgical and clinical management competency to that of a safe independent practitioner working within a head and neck multi-disciplinary team. The person appointed will work at the Aintree Hospital site and will be a member of the ENT Directorate. On call commitments are a 1:9 prospective night cover and a daytime hot-reg cover on a 1:9 rolling week rota. Applicants are required to be fully registered with the General Medical Council. For informal discussions regarding the posts please contact Mr Andrew Kinshuck , Fellowship Director, on 0151 529 5285. Applicants should submit online through NHS jobs.
