Role: Governance Officer – Procurement Process & Performance

Contract Length: Anticipated 12 months

Location: Hybrid Reading, West Berkshire

Pay Rate: Competitive Market Rate



The Process & Performance Excellence Team are seeking a Specialist Officer to oversee Supply Chain Management policies, processes, and systems. This role involves preparing materials for audits, participating in audit activities, and reporting on risks, savings, and benefits to ensure effective governance and compliance.

Key accountabilities:

Support change and champion best practice by actively participating in reviews of SCM processes and systems, ensuring adherence, providing training and escalating issues as appropriate.
Manage and maintain SCM data e.g. electronic purchasing system, contractual/supplier records and activity trackers.
Design, delivery, analysis and commentary of both standard and bespoke reports to provide performance reports, dashboards and facilitate governance reviews and audit.
Provide presentations and training to users and internal/external stakeholders to promote awareness of the supply chain function and support compliance.
Manage SCM budget and headcount, prepare inputs to annual cost forecasts.
Seek and collate internal and/or external feedback on the Supply Chain Function to support continuous improvement activities.
Promote and ensure the use of a fully evaluated and approved supply base.

Key requirements:

Previously implemented and managed a governance and compliance service for strategic procurements.
Effective communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills.
Experience in delivering business change / continuous improvement programmes.
Organising, planning, and effectively implementing projects and tasks.
Information security and / or governance knowledge.
