We have several opportunities for Permanent Highway Maintenance Operatives to join our North Lanarkshire Account in Cumbernauld.



Our North Lanarkshire Account Amey is working in partnership with North Lanarkshire Council since December 2010, operating 24/7 to deliver routine maintenance of roads, street lighting, traffic management infrastructure, delivery of winter service and emergency response service. We are responsible for the routine maintenance of 1,540km of roads, 60,000 lighting units, and 58,000 street lighting columns as well as 85 public car parks and 440 related structures. By ensuring the roads and street lighting across North Lanarkshire are well maintained throughout all seasons, we aim to create well-functioning, safe spaces which minimise disruption, keep people moving and support villages and communities.



Highway Maintenance Operatives plays an important part in the installation of temporary traffic management and all aspects of highway maintenance works.



You will be responsible for:

Undertaking all aspects of highway maintenance works including routine and cyclic maintenance activities, minor civils’ works and litter picking
Drive/operate vehicles/plant ensuring vehicle checks, routing maintenance and cleaning is carried out
Winter Maintenance – including emergency call out and standby
Safety is high on our agenda so ensuring the safety of yourself and the team is paramount
Keep records, including drivers’ hours and any paperwork necessary

We want to hear from you if you are: Self-motivated and pro-active in terms of delivering solutions. Ideally you will have a class 2 HGV Licence and a CPC card, with experience in Street works.



In addition to this, it would be desirable if you have Civils or Trade experience to help you hit the ground running, although this is not essential as we will provide you with the required development you need to bring you up to speed.
