Summary
An opportunity has arisen for a Genetic Counsellor to join Nottingham's Regional Clinical Genetics Service due to maternity cover. Applicants should be HCPC or GCRB registered genetic counsellors, however applications will be considered from suitable candidates who have not registered (appointment would be at Band 6 initially until registration complete).
The Nottingham Genetics service is based at Nottingham's City Hospital campus and provides outpatient clinics across the East Midlands region. We are partners in the East Genomic Medicine Service (East GMS) and Genomic Laboratory Hub together with Leicester and Cambridge.
You will undertake a range of genetic counsellor duties including independent genetic counsellor clinics, comprising a mixture of cancer and general genetics, and also prenatal/urgent referral work, appropriate to your level of experience.
You must be motivated and will be expected to work ethically and maintain appropriate knowledge of clinical guidelines. You will have excellent communication skills and you must be able to work both autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

The post-holder will be based principally in Nottingham however theymay be required to cover outreach clinics in Derbyshire, Mansfield or Lincolnshire and will be expected to travel either by public or own transport when required. We are conducting clinical activity using a hybrid model of virtual (telephone and video) and in-personclinics.
The genetic counselling team also supports a number of specialist clinics and MDTs and is actively engaged in a range of educational and service development initiatives across the region .You will be expected to contribute to teaching sessions and to clinical audit.
