Job Title: Graduate Junior Designer
Function: Design
Department/Team: Commercial Operations
Reports to: Creative Services Manager
Job Purpose
You work as part of the Creative Service team to provide an outstanding design service for the company and its customers. The ability to ensure that all work is completed to the required standard and within the timescales determined by specific production deadlines is essential. To assist as required, with print and digital design, artwork, and typesetting requirements of the department.
Key Accountabilities
• To be fully conversant in the use of and have an appropriate level of competence in all of the applications required in the daily operation of the department.
• The creation and design of publications, brochures, logos, banners, and other promotional materials.
• To ensure that all artwork is produced to the highest possible quality, to agreed timescales and in compliance with any specific instructions stipulated by the customer.
• Have a good understanding of brand and corporate guidelines. Ensure all designs align with the brand image, whilst also meeting usability and print and website standards.
• To ensure all costs for time and materials required for each job undertaken within the area are recorded when the job is completed.
• To liaise closely with all internal and external customers and all other areas within the Commercial Operations department, to ensure continuity of service during the production process and the highest standards of customer service.
• To show a flexible attitude towards providing cover within the department in the event of holidays, illness or overtime requirements.
• Ensuring timesheet records are completed accurately.
• To provide support to other areas of the department as and when required.
• To ensure the companies Health and Safety policy is adhered to.
Expertise
• Having the ability to continually learn, take on feedback, try new things, adapt, grow, and change with the business.
• A degree in Graphic Design and conversant with applications and the latest techniques for the creation of print and digital artwork, with an understanding of production and pre-press processes.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite. – we use pc not mac.
• Strong creative skills and an eye for detail.
• Ability to work flexibly to strict deadlines and under pressure.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Complexity
Providing a variety of artwork and racecard services using InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator and bespoke software.
Impact
Ensuring the artwork services provided to all clients are executed accurately and on time avoiding reputational damage.
Influence
This role liaises across all areas of the company and associated companies by providing artwork services, ensuring that all work is completed in a timely manner. Must deliver first class customer service through verbal and written communication.
Resources Management
No direct report
No authority to approve expenditure.
STARTING SALARY: £24,000
HOLIDAY: 25 days plus bank holidays
