This is a Cloud Engineer role that is fully embedded into the Department for Transport’s Digital Service team.

The Cloud Engineering team is tasked with owning, supporting, and developing our cloud infrastructure and application platforms. You will work closely with Live Services, Cyber Security, Information Assurance, Architecture, and suppliers to develop and maintain our core infrastructure and services. Ensuring they meet all Departmental and Government security standards.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with a variety of internal and external stakeholders presenting technical information in a confident, clear, concise direct manner to a less technical audience.
  • Use best practices monitoring, implementing, supporting, and maintaining infrastructure technologies and solutions such as: compute, storage, infrastructure, software, virtual and cloud including IaaS, PaaS and SaaS.
  • Monitor and ensure agreed quality and service performance targets are met, resolving operational incidents and problems.
  • Provide advice to other areas of Digital Service on all areas of Cloud Infrastructure and support. Including creating and updating knowledge base articles.
  • Responsible for event management, availability management, capacity management and service asset and configuration management for Cloud Infrastructure.
