Summary
Are you interested in starting out your career in the criminal justice sector? This is an exciting opportunity for permanent employment within an administration role that begins with a Modern Apprenticeship. The Modern Apprenticeship that is the perfect starting role for those who have recently left education, considering your first career role or looking for a move into business administration.
Over the initial 18-20 months you can expect to work towards your SVQ in Business Administration Level 3 (SCQF Level 6) and achieve an industry specific enhancement qualification. You will have the opportunity to integrate with various teams across the business working from one of the offices with some opportunities for remote working. These will vary in team size, and you will work with new and experienced colleagues at all levels from administration to Senior Managers.
Our administrators are typically known as Fiscal Officers and play a key role in supporting the delivery of legal prosecution in Scotland. When you start with us you will receive an in-depth induction in which you be given a comprehensive overview of the apprenticeship programme before focusing on learning more about the specific duties you will be carrying out in the local office in an administration role. Throughout the two years you will attend a variety of workshops and training days meeting with assessors and other apprentices to hone your skills and abilities supporting your ability to meet the programme objectives. This continual learning will be balanced with on-the-job practical experience as agreed with your Line Manager.
You will be supported at every stage of your apprenticeship, meeting regularly with your Line Manager who will highlight relevant opportunities for you to demonstrate the skills required for you to progress with your course units. This will be a collaborative relationship in which you will both meet with SQA Assessors and provide positive evidence of your achievements. You will also be provided with time away from your desk to work solely on the SVQ or enhancement. This should equate to 1 hour per week for SVQ, and 1.5 hours for the enhancement. You may also have contact with Skills Development Scotland and the Scottish Qualification Authority as part of their monitoring processes.
