Due to a number of our Apprentices now successfully becoming Qualified Practitioners, a vacancy has become available at Little Owls for a Childcare Modern Apprentice!

We are looking for someone who is passionate about childcare and sparking children's curiosity to join us in our lively and busy setting.

The vacancy is a full time post working 40 hours Monday to Friday between 7.30am and 6.00pm.As part of the apprenticeship, we will support you to complete your childcare qualification and all mandatory training.

Job Title: Unqualified Nursery Practitioner/ Apprentice Nursery Practitioner

Primary Purpose: To assist in providing quality care and education in a nursery within the St Bede Childcare Ltd organisation.

Responsible to: Nursery Manager / Area Manager
Principal Responsibilities:
1.Attending to the welfare, physical & emotional needs of the
children.
2. Preparation & organisation of play activities with regard to the
age of the children attending the sessions and the site
environment.
3. Supervision & control of individual children or groups of
children.
4. Liaison with parents/carers concerning their child’s welfare &
also to liaise with the Nursery staff.
Main Duties:
1. Working with individuals or groups of children in their activities, e.g. storytelling, art, craft, play activities & singing.
2. Supervision of children during Nursery sessions.
3. Attending to the general welfare of children.
4. Ensuring that parents/carers of sick children are informed.
5. To encourage acceptable standards of hygiene.
6. To provide emotional support to distressed children.
7. Organising, washing & cleaning of tables, equipment, play areas, aprons, etc. during Nursery sessions.
8. Assisting with the monitoring, control & maintenance of materials & equipment.
9. Maintenance of necessary records as required.
10. To participate in the Nursery Staff development events as required.
11. To follow safeguarding policies and procedures at all times, including recognising the signs of abuse & know what actions to take.
12. To deal with emergency situations which might place a child at risk, e.g. sickness, fire.
13. To promote the principles of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.
14. Liaising with other staff, parents & carers to provide a holistic approach to the needs of children.
15. Any other relevant duties commensurate with the grade and nature of the post, as determined by the Nursery Manager & the Area Manager.
