Clerk to Governors for Hotwells Primary School
Applications are invited from a charismatic and enthusiastic Clerk to Governor who:
Is able to provide high quality administrative support to our governing body Has excellent written and verbal communication skills and, Is very well organised and able to manage time effectively Hotwells Primary School is a vibrant and creative, community-focused one form entry primary school - small in size but bursting at the seams with creativity, warmth and a curiosity to learn! We pride ourselves on our ambitious curriculum, our strengths in the Arts and our wonderful local and global community of children and families. We are extremely proud to be part of the Cathedral Schools Trust. We belong to a family of six state funded primary schools and three secondary schools. We are close neighbours with Cathedral Primary School and Bristol Cathedral Choir School and less than five miles from each of the schools in the Trust. The school is at an exciting time in its development journey. Following our ‘Good’ Ofsted rating in September 2022, which recognised the huge developments we have made in our curriculum and the rapid improvement journey the school has been on, as well as the appointment of our new substantive headteacher in January 2023, our school is going from strength-to-strength. We have a dedicated and enthusiastic staff team who are committed to further professional development. Permanent Contract Start Date: ASAP Salary: BG8 12:16 (£26,873 - £28,770 (FTE)) Hours: 80 hours per year and will involve evening work Role Summary: To provide effective administrative support, procedural and legislative advice to the governing body. Duties and Responsibilities Provide effective administrative support to the governing body Respond to a range of enquiries, both written and verbal, or refer to the Chair in more complex cases. Prepare draft documents, letters and maintain spreadsheets (e.g. governors’ records) to ensure information is up-to-date. Organise in-person and video governing body meetings as required. Ensure secure handling of confidential data and information to comply with CST policy, and relevant data regulations and procedures. Maintain the governing body’s electronic filing system. Update and maintain a formal record of governors’ information, including personal details, governor categories, terms of office and attendance record. Ensure that the governing body’s section of the School website is kept up-to-date. Organise and coordinate the information flow. Liaise with the Chair, Headteacher and other members of the governing body to agree a calendar of dates for governing body meetings and prepare meeting agendas. Keep agenda tracking spreadsheets up to date. Make notes at governing body meetings for the preparation of minutes and, under the direction of the Chair, ensure that all decisions are recorded accurately. Under the direction of the Chair, collate and disseminate information prior to meetings. Maintain a log and record of all incoming and outgoing information. Provide legislative and procedural support to the governing body. Provide the governing body with guidance on governance-related legislation and procedural matters. Provide governors with relevant legislative information. Notify the governing body of changes to relevant policies and procedures. Attend appropriate training and CST meetings to keep personal knowledge and skills up to date.
