Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity to join our friendly team as a Sonographer (within the NCA). We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Ultrasound Sonographer to join our team. You will be a Sonographer/ Radiographer/ Midwife with a CASE Accredited Ultrasound qualification at PgCert/ PGDip level or equivalent in Abdominal and/or Gynae and Obstetric scanning. Vascular Scientists will be considered.
NT experience and FMF / DQASS number is highly desirable. Experience working in an NHS hospital would be desirable together with UK qualifications in order to justify the banding for this role. Considerations will be given to non-UK qualified candidates as a band 5 or 6 preceptorship role depending on experience and abilities, working towards achieving band 7 status. Preceptorship at NCA is up to a period of 9 months.
You will be primarily based at Oldham or Salford however there will be an element of cross site working.
We are a highly skilled friendly team supported by the Clinical Lead team. This is a challenging but rewarding post with the potential for many opportunities to further develop and progress in Ultrasound. We actively promote and encourage staff to pursue their interest and take an active role in service improvement.
Main duties of the job
The Ultrasound department has an established and highly successful trainee sonographer programme and there are opportunities to act as a student mentor. The department has strong educational links with the University of Salford.
Sonographers are appointed to a base site where they will spend the majority of their time, however you may be required to provide cover in accordance with service needs at any of the trust sites. All hospital sites are in close proximity to both the city of centre of Manchester and the countryside of Lancashire with good accessible transport links.
The service supports flexible working arrangements, and part time opportunities are also available and will be considered.
We have a wide range of state of the art equipment which is updated under a rolling replacement programme and we take part in regular audits to improve our standard of work.
