This opening assignment is for 3 months

Standard DBS required for this role

The purpose of this role is to carry out financial assessments for clients who receive support from Adult Social Care in accordance with the Care Act 2014 and Council financial regulations. The role requires excellent interpersonal skills as will be dealing directly with service users and/or their agents and carrying out the assessment on-line or over the phone. Experience of Adult Social Care finance is required for this role, not housing benefit experience.

Key responsibilities:

This is a specific role to review the financial assessments of clients who have not been reviewed for 2 years or more. Use Controcc to carry out the assessments and Infomation@work to save documents.
May include the requirement for occasional visits to service users and financial representatives as necessary to obtain information, help with the completion of financial statements and benefit claim forms and provision of advice on the financial aspects of service provision including benefits, charging and the safeguarding of vulnerable people’s financial affairs.
Work with colleagues to ensure a financial service in accordance with the Care Act, 2014 and Council financial regulations.
Work with service users and/or their agents to resolve issues related to their assessed contributions.
Benefit claims, assistance with claim completion and provision of benefits advice.
Provision of expertise, information, advice and guidance to carers, clients and members of the general public on these specialist areas of activity.

Qualifications:

BTEC in Business and Finance or Competency equivalent to level 3 NVQ in Business and Finance or experience that demonstrates an equivalent acquisition of knowledge or an equivalent qualification.



Experience:

Experience of Adult Social Care finance is required for this role, not housing benefit experience.
Minimum of 12 months recent experience in a similar role or context and ideally within a public sector organisation.
Experience in finance particularly supporting service users to complete financial assessment forms and benefit claims.



Knowledge:

An awareness of legislation relating to charging for social care services, safeguarding the affairs of vulnerable adults and recovery of social care debts or equivalent experience / knowledge.
Knowledge of the principles for supporting people, who lack capacity, with the management of their finances desirable.



Skills & Abilities:

Excellent interpersonal skills.
Ability to cope with the duties and responsibilities of the post and associated working environment and the ability to work as a member of a team.
Innovative style in analysing and resolving problems and in the application of judgement.
Ability to use initiative where necessary and to prioritise workloads.
Ability to deal sensitively, diplomatically and professionally with vulnerable, mentally incapacitated and distressed service users and agents and bereaved relatives.
Strong IT skills including Microsoft packages or equivalent (e.g. G Suite).
