Birkett House is a very popular and successful all age special school for pupils with learning difficulties. We are a multi-sited school in South Leicestershire the main site is in Wigston and we also have inclusion units at Thistly Meadow Primary School (Blaby), Little Hill Primary School (Wigston), Thomas Estley Community College (Broughton Astley) and a purpose built Senior Department based in Countesthorpe.
We are currently looking for a full time Senior Teaching Assistant to be based at our main school site in Wigston. A senior teaching assistant is an integral member of a class team who works closely to support the teacher in providing the teaching and learning of children and directing other teaching assistants operating within the class team. The school provides a comprehensive professional development programme. Please refer to the job description and person specification for further information about the role.
Qualifications required: NVQ level 3 (or working towards this level) or equivalent higher qualification, and Maths/English qualification to NVQ level 2.This is an exciting opportunity to join an outward-looking school and to contribute to the development of special education in Leicestershire. Contract term: Full timeWorking hours: 32.5 hrs/wkSalary Starting: Salary grade 7, point 11-14. Actual salary starts at £18,575 (F.T.E. £24,708) which is pro rata salary based on working 32.5 hours per week and term time only.The closing date is Monday 26th August 2024 and shortlisting will take place soon after. Shortlisted candidates will be expected to spend at least ½ day in a class before their interview, and this visit does form part of our interview procedure. Interviews will take place weeks commencing either Monday 9th or Monday 16th September, to be confirmed.
