Workshops
Operational Preparedness Directorate
Salary: £37,046 per annum (inclusive of allowances)
Salary breakdown:
Basic Salary £31,284 per annum.
Call out cover £5,319 per annum.
Tool Allowance £443 per annum.
HGV fitters are required to participate in an out of hours call out scheme on a 1 week in 6 basis. Overtime payments will be made for all hours worked outside normal working hours.
Hours of work 35 hours per week, Monday – Thursday 8.00 – 16.15 hours and Friday 8.00 – 13.00 hours.

Location: Engineering Centre, Vesty Road, Bootle, L30 1NY
We are recruiting for 2 HGV Vehicle Fitters to work at our modern and state of art vehicle workshops in Bootle.
The Workshop department provides a high quality fleet, comprising of fire appliances, ancillary, special vehicles and other specialist plant/equipment, maintained to a high standard and degree of reliability to provide the means whereby all members of the fire service can carry out their duties safety and efficiently.
Our HGV Vehicle Fitters are responsible for carrying out repairs, inspections, servicing and modification tasks to our fleet of Scania Fire Appliances and our ancillary fleet.
You must be a fully qualified Vehicle Fitter with City and Guilds or NVQ level 3. Have experience of working in a HGV vehicle transport workshop and be able to complete HGV vehicle inspections to DVSA standard.
