This role will be based at Lewes but the successful candidate will be required to travel to Brighton & Hove as and when necessary.

HM Courts and Tribunals Service (HMCTS) is responsible for the administration of criminal, civil and family courts and tribunals in England and Wales. We are looking for individuals who are committed to public service and to making a difference in people’s lives to deliver justice.
What will you be doing?
Being a Juror is one of the most important duties a UK Citizen can perform. Our Jury Officer’s are based in a Crown Court and provide support to the Jury. This includes providing initial direction to the Jury and being a point of contact to them throughout their time as a Juror. A key duty in this role is the initial Jury Officer speech to Jurors, which can be to a group of between 20 and 100 people in court, each of whom will have their own questions and concerns.
This is a predominantly customer facing role, which includes public speaking in a court setting. You will have regular contact with court / tribunal users, including members of the Judiciary and the legal profession.
Alongside your public facing duties, you will be assigned to teams to carry out a variety of general administrative duties to progress cases through the court/tribunal system or provide administrative support to other functions within HMCTS.
Working as part of a flexible team, you will be expected to undertake a range of the functions and responsibilities specified.
Key Responsibilities include:
• Undertake the Jury Officer’s speech to new Jurors, providing them with the key information and helping them understand their responsibilities
• To undertake Jury Officer role. Communicate and work with the Judiciary, the Court Managers, Court staff, and other internal / external stakeholders, suppliers and customers to collect information, check facts, communicate or enforce judicial decisions.
• Assisting court users, supporting listing and rota management, checking files
• Processing and calculating Jury Expenses and dealing with any related enquiries
• To work as a team to problem solve and contribute to small projects
• Collecting and Assembling Information
• To deliver a helpful, prompt, polite and “right first time” service to all court / tribunal users and stakeholders
Do you have the skills needed?
• Strong customer focus and service skills
• Experience of working in an administrative role in a customer focussed environment
• Proficient with IT, with the ability to learn new systems and packages
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
