We are looking for a Bereavement Services Apprentice to join our small team based at the Crematorium in Boston.
What does the Bereavement Services department cover?
The Bereavement Services team delivers the Crematorium and Cemetery functions for Boston Borough Council. The small team looks after funeral services at the Crematorium and two cemeteries located at Boston and Fosdyke. This encompasses enabling the funeral ceremony in the chapel, followed by cremation or burial, as well administration, provision of memorials and grounds maintenance.
Typical duties are:
Provide administrative support in the service area and maintain appropriate records on all computerised and manual systems.
Answer incoming calls and emails courteously and efficiently.
Dealing with Funeral Directors, Ministers, Stonemasons and members of the public when required.
Preparing and cleaning the chapel and public areas to maintain a high standard of presentation.
Assisting with music and multimedia provision for funeral services.
Using ground plans and records to locate and mark graves, also to assisting with family research enquiries.
Assist in the crematory area as required, as support to the Cremator Technician. This may include, moving wheeled trolleys, processing and helping with the distribution of cremated remains, but not furnace operation.
What training will you take and what qualification will you get at the end?
Level 2 Customer Service Practitioner apprenticeship standard, which includes:
Functional Skills in maths, and English (if required)
Personal Learning and Thinking Skills (PLTS)
Previous experience of working in an office environment or Bereavement arena would be advantageous but is not essential.

You need to be able to travel to and from Boston daily.
