The East of England Neurosurgery Network (EoE NN) is hosted by Cambridge University Hospitals (CUH) and is the region’s Neurosurgery Clinical Network. It was launched in October 2023 and is a specialised service clinical network. Its triple aim is to improve quality, reduce inequalities, and to improve value of neurosurgical management across the eastern region.
As East of England Neurosurgery Network Specialist Nurse/AHP during the first half of this 18 month post you will contribute to at least two of the network’s six workstreams in the 2024/5 financial year; “Regional MDT” and “Clinical Guidelines”. Supported by the Network Manager and Network Clinical Lead you will be responsible for institution of regular network MDT meetings and assist with preparation, publication, and dissemination of network agreed patient pathways, procedures, and protocols. You will be responsible for data entry into established cranial registries spanning the wide spectrum of neurosurgery including, but not limited to vascular (BIBAR, CAMNVS) and functional (DBS). You will also assist with creation of new registries relevant to neurotrauma and pituitary.
As part of this role you will be embedded clinically within relevant neurosurgical teams for at least 1 day/week, rotating through relevant sub-specialties as the MDT workstream evolves.
This post represents a unique opportunity for a mid-career nurse/AHP to further develop their clinical skills across a range of sub-specialties in neurosurgery whilst taking an active role in a regional NHS England-funded quality improvement initiative.
Key responsibilities include:
To institute regular and effective Regional Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) meetings for the East of England Neurosurgery Network (EoE NN),including cross-regional collaborations such as the"Eastern Neurovascular MDT".
Development and implementation of common referral, care,and transfer pathways, in addition to other policies, protocols, and procedures across the network, to reduce variation in service delivery.
To be responsible for data entry into cranial registries (maintaining accurate data through a keen eye for detail)spanning the wide spectrum of neurosurgery.
