Summary
The Governor Services Team provides advice, guidance, and information to support governors and governing boards and schools in Leicester City. Aiding them to fulfil their legal responsibilities. As well as, providing a traded clerking service and access to a governor training and development programme.
You’ll join our small friendly and welcoming team to support the provision and delivery of high quality, responsive, statutory and traded governor support services. Working in respect of all manners related to Leicester City school governing boards.
Governing board meetings can be held during the day, twilight and in the evening and therefore involves some working out of normal office hours. Therefore, successful candidates will be required to have a flexible approach to their working hours and also travel out to the meetings held at the schools. This post offers flexible working, so you can work either at home or on- site.
What you'll be doing
Day to day, you’ll be managing, guiding, and supporting, the Governor Support Officer whose main role in the team is to act as Clerk to Governors for a number of schools.
Attending meetings, you’ll act as Clerk to Governors for schools that buy into our traded clerking service. Taking minutes and completing administrative tasks around the meetings organisation.
Leading on the operational functions of the team, including ensuring that statutory requirements are met in relational to constitutional information. Contributing to the publications and briefing notes published by the Governor Services Manager.
What you’ll need
As a highly motivated, capable person who is reliable, confident and has excellent inter-personal skills. You’ll use your experience of school governance and as a Clerk to Governors to lead on the team’s traded clerking service and undertake clerking duties for number of schools.
With details knowledge of the role/responsibilities of governing bodies and experience of being a Clerk to Governors.
You’ll have excellent minute-taking, administrative, organisational and communication skills. Being able to use your experience of working in an administrative setting and using Microsoft office packages. To deal effectively with a wide range of clients on challenging and sometimes complex issues.
