Summary
Job Overview
-Mitie on Ascension Island are seeking a experienced Transport Supervisor to safely and effectively manage the motor transport department.
-The MT Operations Supervisor is responsible to the Airfield Operations Manager and shall ensure all Health & Safety,Quality and Enviromental regulations are compliant.
Main duties
-To contribute to effective contract performance by working closely with the MTMS and Supply teams, to support the implementation of Interserve and MOD policies and strategies in order to achieve the business objectives.
-Supervision and administration of everyday MT duties including but not limited to data management on JAMES, preparation of MT documentation, management of the Ascension Island Base fleet and yard administration iaw current regulations.
-Ensure that transport requests are manned effectively and vehicles are allocated and authorised in accordance with current regulations and policy.
-Ensuring that all defects and faults are recorded and reported to the MTMS for action. Compilation of Road Traffic Accident Reports when necessary.
-Compilation of weekly and monthly stats, work force returns and pay related documentation, work of an objectionable nature etc., for forwarding to Interserve admin through the Airfield Operations Manager.
-Issuing Driving Permits to qualified personnel and arranging where necessary any familiarization training that may be required.
-Ensure adherence to Quality Assurance, COSHH and Risk Assessments in accordance with processes and procedures laid down in the company SOP`s.
-Undertake driving duties in support of airfield operations as and when required.
-Work collaboratively with the MTMS Supervisor to ensure all vehicles are prepared in time for MEI inspection.
What we are looking for
-Have the ability to work independently with a flexible attitude, work under pressure, and cope with last minute changes to the flying programme, including flight delays.
-Ability to build and maintain good working relationships with colleagues, RAF, aircrew and customers at all levels.
-Experience with Military driving regulations.
-Medically fit, CP2 colour perception is essential.
-Must be prepared to undertake additional duties in support of contract delivery as and when required.
-Full clean driving license.
-Abilty to obtain Security clearance
Additional details
Mitie will pay a competitive salary, monthly site allowance and bonus. Hours of work are 47.5 per week not “9 to 5” but arranged around Aircraft movements and will entail early, late and weekend working. The contract duration is 24 months with 80 days leave excluding weekends. There will be an entitlement to the Ascension Island Bank Holidays. Flights will be arranged to and from Ascension Island for agreed holiday periods. The position is unaccompanied, single accommodation on Travellers Hill, 3 meals at the Combined Mess, all corporate work wear and personal protective equipment included. Must be capable of obtaining security clearance, evisa from the Ascension Government, be declared medically and dentally fit to work on Ascension Island.
