Summary
We are seeking a Transport Supervisor to oversee the day-to-day transport operations in Northampton, to ensure the safe, efficient, and cost-effective delivery of goods.
Shift: 4 on, 4 off.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise a team of drivers and transport staff.
Monitor and manage daily transport operations.
Conduct daily debriefs with drivers and manage driver performance.
Liaise with the warehouse and customer service teams.
Support the Transport Manager in achieving operational KPIs.
Ensure vehicle defects and maintenance issues are reported and resolved promptly.
Assist in accident investigations, incident reporting, and the implementation of corrective actions.
Maintain accurate records relating to driver hours, training, holidays, and sickness.
Uphold & Promote health & safety standards.
Support new driver inductions and ongoing driver training initiatives.
Handle and resolve transport-related queries.
Skills & Experience:
Essential:
Previous experience in a transport supervisory or similar role within a logistics/distribution environment.
Strong understanding of transport legislation, drivers' hours, and tachograph regulations.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Proficient in using transport management systems (TMS) and Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word).
Ability to work independently and make decisions under pressure.
Desirable:
CPC qualification desirable but not essential.
Experience working on a shift pattern or in a 24/7 operation.
Familiarity with route optimisation software and vehicle telematics.
