Our client, a world leader in aerospace design and manufacture is looking for Quality Engineering professionals to join their team, based at their state-of-the-art site in Filton

They have requirements in both Inspection (Lineside) and Quality Compliance, the roles will involve working on site four days a week (Mon-Thu 06:30 – 15:45) any overtime will be paid at a premium rate (25% uplift for Mon-Fri and 50% uplift for Sat-Sun)

Responsibilities

• performing Quality Inspections as per defined standards, Final Check and Attestation, Stop Points, out of sequence work, including critical activities
• Conduct tasks in line with Conformance Engineering principles, leading to a reduction in the Cost of Non-Quality by generation of business KPI’s and analysis of trends
• Perform product inspections according to standards, delegation rules and guarantees attestation of work-orders under his accountability
• To carry out investigations and root cause analysis into reported quality / quality technical issues from business team and customer to ensure appropriate containment, and archiving, preventive, corrective and curative action is taken by the accountable function through multifunctional teams
• Facilitate / lead Quality Improvement Projects (QIP) activities to enable clear ownership of topics, improvements opportunities and actions resolution through networking and team working within the business to achieved required results
• Performs Clearance of areas, Pre-delivery checks, Duplicate checks of Customer Protection Board items; Duplicate checks of Key Risk items
• Conducting and leading Quality investigations into complex / technical issues from the business and customer ensuring appropriate corrective and preventative actions are taken with the use of appropriate toolsets and multifunctional team inputs
• Participates in setting of quality standards and ensures compliance with them in own area of responsibility
• Collects and manages Quality issues requiring preventive and corrective actions and contributes to daily workstation Lean activities (e.g. SQCDP, PPS)
• Ensures that containment, customer protection board activities and corrective activities are implemented and efficient within dedicated lead-time agreed and communicated within the area
• Provides feedback to the Inspection Standard Operations Instruction Owner, to ensure relevant and consistent controls for their update
• Ensure the requirements for inspections & controls are cascaded to the shop floor
• Support the Quality Conformance Manager in the Set-up of Control Charts and the calculation of capability
• Raises non-conformities against design definition, checks reworks, and closes these NCs
• Contributes to operators’ qualification and performs surveillance of certified operators and product, according to Quality standards and surveillance plan survey and support
• Performs surveillance of processes and process confirmation activities according to Quality standards and surveillance plan. Support risk analysis (FMEA)
• Knowledge of the Cost of non-Quality process is required
• Ensures that documents to be archived by Quality are completed and gathered in accordance with Quality rules

Skills/Experience:

• Minimum 3 years’ experience in a lineside / quality inspection / quality conformance position
• Experience of root cause analysis is also essential
• Strong communicator with inspection and surveillance experience
• Have strong IT skills and SAP knowledge
• Shop floor experience would be highly beneficial
• Experience of reading drawings
• Someone who can ensure quality standards are met and able to reacting quickly to customer feedback while working in a fast moving operational environment
• Candidates from aerospace, automotive or transport industries would be of particular interest
• Strong problem solver with experience of using PPS techniques
• Someone with the ability to successfully lead a multi-functional team to ensure quick problem resolutions
• Preferably quality or design from a manufacturing engineering background
