What skills and experience we're looking for
We seek enthusiastic, positive people who work well with children, staff and parents, and can remain calm when there is lots going on!
You will work as part of a team to run Belleville Primary School’s new ‘wraparound’ provision (breakfast club and after school club) which will start running in September 2024.
This will involve supporting children to participate in engaging and enriching activities, and making sure they follow relevant policies and procedures to ensure their safety and wellbeing.
You will have
• experience of working with children of primary school age
• an understanding of good quality childcare
• an understanding of safeguarding and child protection duties
• the ability to engage children in fun and developmental activities
• empathy, sensitivity and great communication skills
• high expectations of yourself and others.
This is a brand new provision, and an exciting development for the school.
The role will involve:
• Providing care for the children attending the programme, supervising them during activities and when eating, and ensuring they feel safe and looked after at all times.
• Encouraging positive behaviour (“Making the Right Choices”), independence and self-esteem.
• Making sure equipment is set up, used, maintained and put away safely.
• Ensuring the safe transfer of children to class (after breakfast club) or collection (after school).
For more details about the role and what we are looking for, please download the attached job description and person specification.
What the school offers its staff
Belleville is an ambitious, vibrant and supportive place to work.
Ofsted (March 2022) say:
• Pupils thrive at Belleville. Pupils speak with enthusiasm about the rich curriculum they learn. Pupils behave very well and engage positively with their learning
• Staff are proud to work at Belleville. They receive extensive professional development and are appreciative of this. They feel their workload is well managed by leaders who welcome their input on how the school operates.
We are a very successful, popular, outstanding school with a focus on positive learning behaviour and high expectations for all children. We have two school sites (Belleville Webbs and Belleville Meteor), a fantastic staff team and a supportive parent/carer community. We are in a vibrant area of south London with excellent transport links. Our proximity to Clapham Junction gives us easy access to central London and out across the south of England.
We have strong systems in place to help children achieve, so learning behaviour is excellent here. We provide amazing enrichment opportunities including visits, trips and clubs. We have a committed staff team, supportive parents and carers, and most importantly, truly incredible children!
Belleville is part of Quality First Education (Q1E), a successful Multi-Academy Trust with four primary schools on five sites across south London. This is an exciting time for us and we want the best people to join us. We would love to hear from you.
Further details about the role
Please see the attached job description and person specification for more details of the role and what we are looking for.
To apply, please send your completed application form and equal opportunities monitoring form to recruitment@q1e.org.uk by noon on Friday 28th June 2024.
Our new team of Play Workers will start in September, when the new Wraparound provision opens to pupils.
Commitment to safeguarding
All posts in Q1E schools are subject to an enhanced DBS with barred list check. It is an offence to apply if you are barred from working with children. We may carry out online searches of shortlisted candidates.
