Assist in the provision of a comprehensive service in Ophthalmology under the supervision of the designated Consultant(s) Undertake clinics as required. Participate in production and revision of ophthalmic local guidelines Work and undertake duties a defines by the Ophthalmology Medical Rota Participate in a Middle Grade Doctor on Call Rota The post holder will be expected to deputise in the absence of colleagues in cases of annual leave, study leave and sickness as far as is practicable and ensure continuous patient care Support more Junior Ophthalmic medical colleagues in their education and clinical skills Provide advice and guidance to other Ophthalmic Disciplines (Nurses and Orthoptists), escalating when required Support consultants with their clinical duties in order to support the delivery of care and enhance the appointees skill sets and competencies Undertake activities necessary to fulfil continuing medical education [CME] requirements for annual certification and General Medical Council revalidation In line with requirements of clinical governance, the appointee will be expected to participate in clinical audit, including where appropriate, local on-going and new audits, specialty regional and national audit programmes Maintain a robust commitment to continuous learning in the field of Ophthalmology Participate in day-to-day teaching of nursing staff, junior doctors and final year medical students Share knowledge and expertise of Ophthalmology equipment throughout the department; contributing to cost improvement schemes where required
