Summary
We are delighted to be offering the opportunity to join our surgical care practitioner team as a trainee practitioner. This position would ideally suit an enthusiastic & dynamic healthcare professional from a nursing, ODP or allied health professional background. Applicants should have extensive experience at Band 6 level (equivalent to minimum of 2 years), a peri-operative background will be advantageous, however motivated and enthusiastic applicants willing to adapt to peri-operative environment quickly will be considered.
We are a dynamic & ambitious team, proud to be delivering high quality care for patients. Successful candidates will be provided with training to undertake cardiac surgery as 1stand 2ndassist as well as well as performing open and endoscopic vein harvesting independently.

The successful applicant will be required to be accepted and complete an accredited SCP course delivered externally at Master’s level as part of the training programme. Applicants should ensure they meet the academic requirements for UK Masters study and have previously studied at Level 6 or 7 in the UK.

To act as first or second assistant under the surgeon direction of the consultant in cardiac surgical and thoracic procedures.
Following training, meet the competencies required to undertake surgical activities to ensure that high quality of patient care is maintained, and outcomes are met.
Contribute to surgical activity in areas outside of the theatre environment, including wound clinics and wards.
Provide visible leadership and act as a role model at all times, demonstrating the Trust values.
